From The President
Let’s Keep the ART in SMART!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

For 22 years the REP Foundation has proudly been serving the students of Redlands Unified. And what an honor it has been to be a part of this fantastic organization! The dedicated members of our Board of Directors work tirelessly to raise money to fund programs that we so passionately support. Last year in fact, REP Foundation distributed $87,000 into our local public schools.

We enjoy a true partnership with our schools and work to stay responsive to each school site’s needs while emphasizing the importance of keeping the arts alive. Every person on our Board subscribes to the notion that the Arts “complete” an education. The arts help develop and stimulate portions of the brain that lead to improved learning in other academic areas. It is a goal of the REP Foundation to enrich the quality of education for all students in the district each year.

With the ongoing California budget crisis our mission becomes more important than ever. We are all fortunate to be a part of a district that is so successful, but logic tells us that as the budget cuts continue to come, the impact will strike closer to home. I encourage you to consider making a contribution through our REP TEN Campaign. If everyone donates to REP TEN, our Foundation can do amazing things and keep many educationally, vital experiences available to our students. Our district’s families enjoy and expect quality education in RUSD. REP TEN can help ensure our students continue to receive that extra edge.

REP TEN Campaign is a simple plan in which everyone can participate for their own children, grandchildren, any child or if you just love kids! Here is the plan, when $10 is donated for each student and multiplied by the 22,000 RUSD students, REP Foundation would triple the annual budget. Just imagine the amazing dreams that an additional $220,000 could bring to reality through our programs. Believe it or not, some educational foundations in California ask parents for $300 to $500 per students annually. REP asks for only $10 per student. (Of course, we wouldn’t turn down more!!)

And what does $10 give a student? For ten dollars a student may attend outstanding professional art & music performances, go on a field trip, benefit from school gardens, use a microscope and other science equipment, computers, software, and benefit from innovative techniques acquired through a teacher receiving a school grant. The possibilities are endless to help educate our kids…all for only $10 per child.

Please read through our 2008-2009 Community Report. I know you will enjoy reading all of the wonderful ways REP enriches our schools. We always welcome your support of REP Foundation through your service, interest and donations.

Sincerely,
R. Lynn Whitmer, President
