HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO REP FOUNDATION!!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
What a wonderful year we have had filled with many reasons to celebrate REP Foundation! Twenty years of serving the students and schools of the Redlands Unified School District is a remarkable record. In that time nearly one million dollars has been donated through REP Programs and over one hundred community members have served on the Board of Directors. Congratulations to all of those dedicated volunteers since 1987. They have kept alive the vision of keeping quality education for all students in RUSD schools.
Over those twenty years the following highlights show how REP has progressed.
In 1988, the Grants for Schools program gave up to $400 per grant.
In 2006-07, Grants for Schools program gave up to $3000 per grant.
In 1987 each school was given $400 for the Arts.
In 2006-07, $28,425 was divided between all 23 schools for the Arts.
In Science & Technology
From 1987 – 1995, the SATTOS Traveling Lab visited schools.
2006-07, School Gardens provided $500 to each school.
2006-07, Enrichment Plus for Science divided $16,500 between 23 schools.
In 1988, Evening of Appreciation recognized outstanding teachers.
In 1998, outstanding classified employees were added.
In addition, these are the new ways REP is serving RUSD students after 20 years.
The REPresenting Our Schools Art Project recognizes student artists.
RESCUE the Instruments repairs elementary and middle school string and wind instruments for students to rent.
REP’s Teen Advisory Council helps with special events and outreach activities in the schools and community.
REP’s affiliate AAA Academy provides Summer School tuition based credit classes at
RHS & REV High Schools.
AAA Academy acquired California After School Education and Safety Grants for seven schools to have THINK Together available and free to all students.
However, like everything else, the costs continue to rise in the purchase of microscopes, science & technology equipment, music and cultural arts supplies as well as performances, books, field trips, and the list goes on. A great example is when REP’s Grants for Schools program awarded $21,000 in grants, the sum of all applications submitted requested a total of over $75,000. This has now happened two years in a row.
To kick off the next twenty years, the REP TEN Campaign has been created to help raise funding. It is a simple plan in which everyone can participate for their own children, grandchildren, any child or if you just love kids! Here is the plan, when $10 is donated for each student and multiplied by the 22,000 RUSD students, REP Foundation would triple the annual budget. Just imagine the amazing dreams that an additional $220,000 could bring to reality through our programs. Oh sure, some education foundations in California ask parents for $300 to $500 per students annually. REP asks for only $10 per student. (Of course, we wouldn’t turn down more!!)
And what does $10 give a student? For ten dollars a student may attend outstanding professional art & music performances, go on a field trip, benefit from school gardens, use a microscope and other science equipment, computers, software, and benefit from innovative techniques acquired through a teacher receiving a school grant. The possibilities are endless to help educate our kids…all for only $10 per child.
Twenty years ago REP’s Motto was “OUR KIDS CAN’T WAIT’ and it still holds true today. How do we fund REP Foundations’ programs? We fundraise through Corporate Grants, Business Partners, Service Clubs donations, and the REP TEN Campaign.
Help us keep your Redlands Public Schools at the level of quality education that you expect in our town for all students. After a while, we all forget and take for granted the wonderful enrichments opportunities that enhance education and make learning possible with the extra edge we want our kids to have! Just imagine if we tripled our budget!!
Keeping the vision alive through forward thinking and determination is the goal of the REP Foundation’s Board of Directors. It is a pleasure to work with such amazing and dedicated individuals.
Please read through this 2006-2007 Annual Report. I know you will enjoy reading all of the wonderful ways REP enriches our schools. We always welcome your support of REP Foundation through your service, interest and donations.
Sincerely,
Jean Bartley, President
